The Black Hawk County Solid Waste Management Commission is sponsoring the Fall Household Hazardous Materials Drop-off Event during the annual Energy and Environmental Fair at Cedar Falls Utilities. The FREE drop-off is open to all Black Hawk County residents to dispose of toxic substances from their homes and garages.
Saturday, September 25th - 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Cedar Falls Utilities - Located on Utility Parkway in Cedar Falls, Iowa
(Near the intersection of Highway 58 and Waterloo Road)

• See demonstrations of energy efficient and eco-friendly products and services
• Compost bin and rain barrel sales (open to everyone interested!) More Info
• Learn ways to reduce home energy consumption
• Kids games and activities
• Stop by the Waste Trac education booth for recycling and household hazardous materials information.
• Bring household toxic materials for free and safe disposal
• The Drop-off is open to all Black Hawk County Residents (residential hazardous waste only)
• No business waste of any kind will be accepted
• No paint, used oil or antifreeze
• items such as: aerosol cans, rechargable batteries, fluorescent light bulbs (compact and tube), ballasts, furniture/metal polish, wallpaper remover, floor care products, and various types of toxic cleaners.
• products such as: insect spray, rat/mouse/goher poison, and fungicides.
• items such as: pool chemicals, concrete cleaner, acids and bases, auto cleaners, varnish, car wax, brake fliud, driveway sealer, epoxy, glues, gasoline, kerosene, lighter fluid, petroleum-based adhesives, roofing tar, shellac, and propane tanks.
• Paint
• Motor oil
• Antifreeze
• Ammunition
• Fire extinguishers
• Smoke detectors
• Alkaline batteries (Single use AAA, AA, 9-volt, etc)
